Welcome to the web site for all women and their partners who are planning to give birth with in the Brighton and Mid Sussex area.
This web site has been written by the midwives who work in the hospitals (Royal Sussex County in Brighton and the Princess Royal in Haywards Heath) and in the surrounding community setting. These two hospitals are covered by the Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Trust (BSUH).
This site will be updated regularly so please be patient with us
We recommend you first see a midwife before you are 10 weeks pregnant, it has been acknowledged that the earlier a woman seeks advice once she knows that she is pregnant, the more informed she will be to make decisions about her pregnancy. Click here to find out how to contact your Midwife.
The aim of this web site is to have all the information in one place about the services we provide both in the home and the hospital/clinics. It will give advice about where to contact a midwife, screening, scans, specialised services that we offer such as the teenage pregnancy midwife, birth stories midwife, advice about alcohol and drug abuse in pregnancy and routine antenatal care. This web site will also have advice about preparing for the birth and the virtual tour of both hospitals if you chose to come into hospital to give birth.
We aim to cover all areas of pregnancy including complications and will have a section on frequently asked questions. We are hoping to add additional information covering labour and the postnatal period shortly.
We hope it will be of use to you all and we will be updating it regularly.
